Ayurvedic De-Stress Treatment - 21 Days
Ayurveda or Ayurvedic medicine is a system of age old Indian tradition, is native to the Indian subcontinent, and is a form of alternative medicine. The oldest known Ayurvedic texts are the Suśrutha Saṃhitā and the Charka Saṃhitā. These Classical Sanskrit texts are among the foundational and formally compiled works of Ayurveda.
Around 600 BC this new system of medicine evolved in India. This is a system that stressed on its prevention, in addition to treating an ailment, and it came to be called Ayurveda. This tradition of health and care (wellness) was followed by the Dravidians and Aryans alike and has been practiced ever since. There are historical references of some sort of a crude system of healing prevalent in Kerala dating back to the 5th Century.
By the medieval period, Ayurvedic practitioners developed a number of medicinal preparations and surgical procedures for the treatment of various ailments. Practices that are derived from Ayurvedic medicine are regarded as part of complementary and alternative medicine, and along with Siddha Medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine, form the basis for systems medicine.
Ayurveda is at present well integrated into the Indian National health care system, with state hospitals for Ayurveda established across the country.
Popularity of Ayurveda and wellness tours is turning out to be an important contributor to the tourism boom in India. Kerala is the only state in India which practices this system of medicine with absolute dedication.
Today, Ayurveda is an indispensable branch of medicine - a complete naturalistic system that depends on the diagnosis of your body's humours - vata, pitta and kapha - to achieve the right balance. We have various wellness tour programs with Kerala as the destination.

Pathra podali sweda
Elakizhi, also called Patra Pinda Sweda, is a form of sweat therapy used to provide relief from pain and rejuvenate and strengthen the soft tissues, joints, and muscles in the body. It is prepared from herbal ingredients such as the leaves of medicinal plants to induce sweating.
During this treatment, medicated oil, ghee or herbal extracts is instilled in the nostrils and the therapist then massages the area around the nose, chest, palms and feet. It is an effective treatment for the nose, throat, sinus and head disorders. The treatment cleanses, purifies and strengthens the nasal passages, so the patient can breathe fully and easily again. This is highly effective in headache, migraine, cervical spondylosis and facial palsy.
A cleansing procedure done through enema using medicated oil that is allowed to remain inside the colon for some time.
Steam therapy is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment which usually follows the Abhyanga treatment. In Ayurvedic medicine, the term ‘Swedana’ refers to the treatment which involves sweating. This treatment is used to relieve the excess doshas or toxin from the body. This helps the person to establish a state of balance and also promote general health and wellbeing.
Vasthi is the ace amongst all Panchakarma treatments. In simple terms, vasthi means medicated enema. Since medicines reach your bowels directly without enzymatic actions, its effectiveness is very high. Hence, vasthi is also done along with many other Ayurvedic treatments. Due to its potential healing ability, vasthi is considered as "half the treatment", for many of these types of diseases. Medicated enemas are used for various specific reasons. In general, this treatment is used to flush the loosened doshas out through the intestinal tract. There are over 100 specific enemas listed in Ayurveda.
Abhyanga is a synchronized massaging of the body towards the direction of the movement of arterial blood. In practical terms it means massaging the body in the direction of the body hair. The scientific reason for this protocol may be to increase the blood flow towards the most distal parts of the body and avoid overwhelming the heart through increased venous return if the massage is done towards the heart, or in other words, in the direction opposite to that of the body hair.
Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead and can be one of the steps involved in Panchakarma. Shirodhara has been used to treat a variety of conditions including eye diseases, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, greying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo, and certain types of skin diseases like psoriasis. It is also used non-medicinally at spas for its relaxing properties.
Shastikshali pinda sweda / Navarakizhi:
Inducing perspiration by using heated round packs or bolus of rice is referred as ‘Shashtikashali pinda sweda or kizhi, also popularly known as Navarakizhi. This is an easy and effective procedure of sudation. Kizhi strengthens muscles and improves nerve conduction. It enhances the smoothness and lusture of the skin.
